Social Events

At St Giles we are often having social events which enables our church family to get to know each other better. Whether it’s a Saturday evening event with food, music and laughter or perhaps  a get together after a Sunday service, visitors are always welcome to join in.

Over the last year or so we have been raising money for our new Multi media system in church and the hall. It’s been great fun and now we have a system comparable with the 21st centuary.

Our next projects are to refurbish the kitchen and to update the lighting in church and then decorate. These are going to be quite a challenge but the ‘ad hoc’ committee are up for it!

The social calendar for this year includes

Harvest Supper on Saturday 24th September at 7pm

130th Anniversary Dinner on Friday 18th November. A candlelit dinner in church with speaker Rev Canon Max Wigley.

Toy Service Brunch on Sunday 11th December after the Annual 9.30am Toy service

Messy Church Christmas Party on Sunday 18th December at 2pm

2012 is also planned and summed up by Julie, our talented poetess

Ode to a Kitchen

“Multi Media”… was the last appeal.

Our thoughts now turn to stainless steel.

A celestial kitchen is our intent

But these things are not “heaven sent”.

Are we a team of top trailblazers?

NO… just the “ad hoc” church fundraisers.

We’d welcome help of every sort.

Any notion, dream or thought.

So if you feel you’re not being used.

Or, if you’d LIKE to be amused.

Can I give you four hot dates……

To come along and bring your mates?

We’ve done a bit of forward planning

But these occasions all need manning.

So if you’d like to join our crew

We’d be so pleased to welcome you.

2012 is quite a year

Olympic Games and Royal cheer.

Well WE don’t want to be outdone!

St Giles can also bring you fun.

March 3rd ….a Spring Event…

Will herald in the start of Lent.

June the 23rd could be….

The longest brightest day…you’ll see!

October 13th …..our celebrated Harvest Feasts

Bring wine and song…from TOP ARTISTES (!)

And as the year draws to a close

A “Christmas Cracker” we propose.

If your nerves feel all a frazzle

December 8th will soothe and dazzle.

We have things planned for this year too.

But those four dates are new to you.

The Vicar also said to mention….

Donation might be your intention.

If you’d like to help our cause

Just have a word with “her indoors!”
