 Alpha

What am I doing here?

Why’s it so messed up?

What on earth is going on?

If God did exist what would you ask?

Alpha Over 2 million people in the UK and 11 million worldwide have now attended an Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over eight thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away.

However forget dry and dusty course and think social evening with food and laughter as well as an opportunity to work through those questions that you’ve never had the chance to ask – Does God exist? Who is Jesus? What’s the real evidence? Is there life after death?

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for anyone aged 16 or over. It particularly caters for:

People investigating Christianity

New Christians

Newcomers to the Church

Those who want to renew or deepen their faith.

What will it cost?

There is no charge for an Alpha course, although a contribution towards the evening meal and the cost of the away-day would be appreciated.

 When & Where?

On Wednesday 1st October 2008 there we are holding ALE (Alpha Launch Event) which starts at 7.30pm with drinks and canapés. It is a free, no-obligation ‘taster’ evening at which you will be able to see and hear more about what Alpha has to offer. The evening will finish at about 9.30pm after dessert and coffee.

The next course at St Giles Bramhope starts on Wednesday 8th October 2008  and will be held in the church hall starting at 7.15pm for 7.30pm and finishing by 9.30pm.

What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people, is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions - life and death and their meaning."

                        The Guardian

What distinguishes Alpha from other initiatives is the easy-going, relaxed feel of the proceedings - that, and its astonishing success."

The Times

Many claim Alpha has changed their lives and appear genuinely happier for the experience."

Time Magazine

Alpha is an unqualified triumph."

The Daily Telegraph

Alpha makes Christianity relevant to modern life."
