Circle Dancing

Circle Dancing meets in St Giles’ Church hall on 1st, 3rd (and 5th) Tuesday evenings at 8pm.

Joan Peart, who runs the group wrote during the year following a week end course:

The Gift of Music is one of John Rutter’s beautiful tunes, and we took this as the title of our Day of Dance on Sat.24thApril.  Our guest teacher was Brenda Kelly, who has made up dances to a lot of John Rutter’s music.
She taught us Sing with the Spirit (wonderful), The Lord Bless you and Keep you (tremendous), Ave Maria (awe-inspiring), Angel’s Carol (lovely), All Things Bright & Beautiful (marvellous), and my favourite: For the Beauty of the Earth (fantastic). We needed no persuading of how beautiful our earth is, with the daffodils nodding in the spring sunshine outside the windows, the birds singing and the promise of the summer weather on its way.
We even did dances to two of Shakespeare’s sonnets (very jolly).  The whole day was delightful, with a most delicious shared lunch.  Everyone who came, from all over the North of England, said they had really enjoyed every minute of it.
We shall now continue to do these dances, and share them with others who couldn’t manage to come. Oooooo good!
